Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain First Class rank. Along with Leader Specific Training, this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Boy Scout Troops and Varsity Teams, in order to be considered "basic trained". This course will start Friday early evening and will finish up Saturdayevening. You do not have to be in Eagle Trail District to attend. All districts are welcome! The orientation for this training and patrol outdoor cooking planning will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Room 207 at First United Methodist Church of Allen (601 S Greenville Avenue, Allen, TX). Please let the registration contact know if you will not be able to attend the orientation, as well as any dietary or other restrictions. Cost is $25 for the course plus $10 for the patrol portion of the food. Please bring $10 in cash to the orientation for your grub master to purchase food.
When Scoutmaster Position-Specific training and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) have both been completed, new Scoutmasters will have the tools needed to begin an effective Boy Scouting program.
